Love Ventures Values: Longevity

Exploring the Love Ventures Values

Longevity is a concept I’ve found myself returning to more and more, both personally and professionally. We can think about it across many facets: health, finances, planet, and the companies we choose to build and invest in. At its core, longevity is about taking a long-term view and recognising that the most meaningful outcomes compound over time. This is something that has shaped my thinking for years, and is a large part of what drew me to join Love Ventures.

Before moving into venture, I spent time working in long-only global equities, where the investment philosophy centred around the power of compounding, that well known ‘eight wonder of the world’. The goal was not to optimise for short-term gains, but to identify companies with durable foundations that could grow and strengthen year on year. That mindset has stayed with me, whilst the asset class may be different in venture, the underlying principle remains the same - backing companies that are positioned to endure.

The irony is that modern society increasingly optimises for immediacy. We are surrounded by instant feedback loops, from messages arriving in real time to being able to access answers instantly through AI. Whilst these tools are incredibly powerful, they can make it harder to cultivate patience. Yet the most meaningful outcomes, whether improving our health, building companies, or creating financial stability, all require sustained effort and an ability to not fall victim to myopicism.

Longevity & Health

My interest in longevity first developed through health and fitness. Through fitness instructing, I’ve seen firsthand how small, consistent habits compound over time. The benefits of training, nutrition, and recovery are rarely immediate, but over months and years they can transform both physical and mental wellbeing. This experience also led me to begin writing my own blog, where through my research I’ve noticed a clear shift in how people think about health. The focus is moving away from short-term optimisation towards longevity; improving health-span, preventing issues before they arise, and building sustainable routines.

This same philosophy is reflected in our investment in Mojo, a leading AI sexual health therapist. Mojo helps men address psycho-sexual health challenges at their root, supporting sustained wellbeing over time rather than relying on short-term pharmaceutical solutions. It reflects a broader shift towards preventative, behavioural approaches that improve outcomes over the long-term.

Longevity & the Planet

Longevity also applies at a planetary level, this became particularly tangible during time I spent in Central America, where the relationship between economic development and environmental preservation is more visible, especially in the likes of Costa Rica. These environments highlight both the fragility and resilience of natural systems, and the importance of managing them with a long-term perspective.

The long-term viability of our societies depends on how we manage energy, biodiversity, and natural resources. At Love Ventures, we have backed companies that support the infrastructure required to do this. Connect Earth is one example, providing the tools that enable businesses and financial institutions to measure and act on their carbon impact. Verna is another, building an operating system to manage biodiversity restoration and environmental agreements that span decades. These companies are helping to create the foundations for more sustainable and enduring environmental systems.

Longevity & Finances

Longevity is equally relevant in a financial context. I’ve seen this increasingly among friends and peers, many of whom are beginning to buy homes and think more seriously about long-term financial stability. These decisions often involve balancing immediate trade-offs with future security, and highlight the importance of infrastructure that supports long-term outcomes.

Our portfolio company, Tembo, reflects this shift. By enabling intergenerational lending and supporting multigenerational wealth transfer through housing, Tembo is helping families access and preserve long-term financial stability. Housing is inherently a long-duration asset, and platforms that strengthen access and sustainability in this market play an important role in financial longevity.

Longevity & Investing

This principle of longevity ultimately underpins venture capital itself. Investing in early stage companies requires patience and conviction, as meaningful outcomes rarely materialise quickly. Venture capital follows a well-understood trajectory, often referred to as the J-curve, where performance may dip in the early years before the strongest companies emerge and drive the majority of returns over time.

Having recently joined Love Ventures, I’ve been drawn to the alignment between this long-term mindset and the companies we support. Many of the most compelling founders are building with longevity in mind; creating infrastructure, improving foundational systems, and addressing challenges that will unfold over decades.

Longevity is not just a theme in our investments, but is a principle that shapes how we think. From health and fitness, to financial security, to the planet itself, the systems that endure are those built with a long-term view. At Love Ventures, this is the perspective we bring to every investment we make.
